One-to-One Tutoring: Grades 1-12 & Adults
If your child is struggling with reading or performing below grade level, take action. Intervention is critical. As students progress through the primary grades, the reading focus shifts from learning to read to reading to learn. When the reading process is not mastered, the gap between good and poor readers widens.
Hereford Zone Tutoring implements the highly effective Wilson Reading System. This complete program is an Orton-Gillingham approach to integrated reading and spelling instruction. The individualized, structured, multisensory approach helps children become accurate, automatic, and fluent readers.
Individualized Reading Instruction Focuses on the Following Concepts:
-
Phonemic awareness
-
Sounds and syllable types
-
Automatic word recognition and reading fluency
-
Spelling
-
Vocabulary development
-
Comprehension
Learning to read fluently takes determination, hard work, and commitment on the part of the student, the family, and the tutor. In order to master the reading process, a minimum of two one-hour sessions each week is recommended.
